Every component follows the same route through the workshop. The steps do not change with order size — only the scheduling does.

How a job moves through Talaween
Step 1
Project Assessment
The material, dimensions, quantity, existing condition, intended use, colour, finish and required delivery schedule are reviewed.
Step 2
Additional Cleaning or Stripping, Where Required
If the component has significant rust, old coatings, oxidation or difficult contamination, an additional cleaning or stripping service may be recommended and quoted separately. Laser cleaning is one possible option but is not a mandatory stage in standard powder coating.
Step 3
Chemical Pretreatment
Virtually all components proceed through Talaween’s standard chemical treatment process to clean and condition the substrate and support proper powder adhesion and corrosion resistance.
Step 4
Drying, Masking and Preparation for Coating
The treated component is dried and prepared for powder application. Masking, plugging or specialised hanging arrangements may be used where required by the component.
Step 5
Powder Application
The selected powder is electrostatically applied to the grounded component using controlled spray techniques.
Step 6
Oven Curing
The component is heated according to the requirements of the selected powder system. During this stage, the powder melts, flows and chemically cross-links into the finished coating.
Step 7
Quality Inspection
The completed component is visually inspected for coverage, appearance and consistency. Talaween also measures cured film thickness before components leave the operation.
Step 8
Packing, Collection or Delivery
The finished components are prepared for collection or delivery according to the project arrangement.
A durable powder-coated finish starts long before powder is sprayed. Substrate condition, chemical pretreatment, powder selection, application, curing and final inspection all contribute to the quality of the finished coating.
Coating thickness inspection
Cured film thickness measured before release
Talaween measures the cured film thickness of powder-coated components before they leave the operation. Standard work is generally maintained below 100 microns unless the selected powder, finish or project specification requires otherwise.
Film thickness is checked as part of Talaween’s quality-control process because both insufficient and excessive coating build can affect appearance and performance.
Visual inspection
Each component is reviewed for defects, contamination marks and surface appearance after curing.
Coverage inspection
Edges, recesses and complex geometries are checked to confirm the coating has reached the intended areas.
Finish consistency
Colour, gloss level and texture are compared across the batch so repeat production stays consistent.
Cured film thickness measurement
Film thickness is measured on cured components before they leave the operation.
Quality control
Why Quality Starts Before Coating
The final finish depends on substrate condition, chemical pretreatment, powder selection, curing and inspection. A shortfall in any one of them shows up on the coated component — usually months later, in service.
Substrate condition
Weld spatter, sharp edges, oxidation and damaged surfaces change the achievable result.
Additional cleaning
Rust and old coatings may require separately quoted stripping or laser cleaning first.
Chemical pretreatment
The standard treatment that adhesion and corrosion resistance rely on.
Powder selection
Interior and exterior exposure require different powder specifications.
Curing
Time and temperature must match the powder for full cross-linking.
Inspection
Coverage, appearance, consistency and cured film thickness are checked before packing.
